Tamil Hockey League Match Report · Days 5 & 6 · SDAT Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium, Egmore

Two days, four matches, and the shape of Rela Hospital - Tamil Hockey League 2026 is finally coming into focus. Day 5 gave us a Pool A goal-fest and a three-way scramble at the top of the scoring charts. Day 6 delivered the tournament's first-ever draw, a debutant's statement win, and a Golden Stick leader who has now pulled clear of the pack. Here's how it all unfolded and who's in the box seat for the Super Six.

Day 5 — Pool A Cracks Wide Open

Southern Railway 6–1 S M Nagar

Southern Railway turned penalty corners into a procession. Iyyappan struck twice from the set piece, Mahendra Singh added another, and Harjeet Singh bagged a brace of field goals either side of the interval to earn the Star of the Match award. Gobind Patel completed the rout. S M Nagar's only reply came through Mithileshkumar from a penalty corner, a lone bright spot on a chastening afternoon that left them with ten goals conceded in two games.

The match of the tournament so far. Income Tax raced clear through M Hariharan's early double, but Deonath Nanwarwas ice-cool from the penalty stroke, converting twice before completing his hat-trick with a field goal. S John, Patras Hassa and R Pitchaimani piled on as GST's depth told in a ten-goal thriller — the highest-scoring match of the league stage.

Day 6 — A First Draw and a New Name on the Board

The tournament's first draw, and it came against the run of form. Table-toppers IOB — who had scored ten and conceded one across their first two games — were held by a resolute FCI. Ananth H M put FCI ahead from a penalty stroke in the 32nd minute, only for Dilraj Singh to level a minute later. Neither side could find a winner, and FCI walked away with a hard-earned, morale-boosting point.

Integral Coach Factory 4–2 AGORC

ICF announced themselves in style on debut. Alok Barla, Raghul Yadav and Rakesh Tete all found the net from open play, with Shyam Kumar adding a penalty stroke, as the Coach Factory ran out convincing 4–2 winners. Thrisul Ganapathy and Surya N M replied for AGORC from penalty corners, but a second defeat in three leaves AGORC's qualification hopes under real pressure.

IOB have stormed clear on +9. Below them it's congested: ICF and Pattabiram have won their only outing, while AGORC's points came early before back-to-back losses.

Who's In the Box Seat for the Super Six?

With the top three from each pool expected to progress, here's where each side stands. Every team plays five group games, so there's plenty still to play for.

Pool A — wide open behind the leaders.

  • Sports Hostel of Excellence are the clear front-runners — maximum points, best defence, and firmly on course.

  • Southern Railway, GST and Income Tax are the three-point cluster fighting for the remaining spots. Southern Railway's +4 goal difference gives them the edge; GST and Income Tax will need results.

  • Indian Bank are the wildcard — five games still to play means their fate is entirely in their own hands.

  • S M Nagar face an uphill battle after two heavy defeats.

Pool B — IOB clear, the rest scrapping.

  • Indian Overseas Bank are all but through — seven points and a commanding +9.

  • Integral Coach Factory and Pattabiram Strikers have made ideal starts and look best placed to join them, though both have four games still to navigate.

  • AGORC have three points but a poor −5 difference and momentum against them.

  • Food Corporation of India and Dhyand Veerans need to string wins together quickly.

Current probables: Sports Hostel of Excellence and Indian Overseas Bank look the safest bets. The remaining four Super Six berths are genuinely up for grabs — this tournament is far from decided.
