Rela Hospital Tamil Hockey Women's League Comes Down To the Final Day. SRM IST vs SHE Chennai will write a fresh script.

Yesterday's result didn't just extend SRM IST's perfect start — it set up the exact final-day script the Women's League has been building toward since the fixtures were drawn. Today, before the men even walk out for their own decider, the women's title gets settled: SRM IST vs SHE Chennai, 15:30, both teams unbeaten, everything on the line.
Yesterday: SRM IST 4–2 SDAT Tiruvannamalai
SRM IST stayed perfect, but Tiruvannamalai didn't make it easy, and it's their goals — not SRM's — that carry the better story out of this one.
Scorer | Team | Type |
Vairavi M (x2) | SRM IST | Field Goal |
Suba Sri S | SRM IST | Penalty Corner |
Ansa Joseph | SRM IST | Penalty Corner |
Agastiya M | SDAT Tiruvannamalai | Field Goal |
Mathusri V | SDAT Tiruvannamalai | Field Goal |
Vairavi M did what Vairavi M has done all tournament — a brace of field goals that pushed SRM 3–0 up and looked, for a spell, like it was heading for another rout in the mould of their 8–0 opening statement. Suba Sri S and Ansa Joseph both added penalty corners either side of the interval.

But Tiruvannamalai, so anonymous in their first two outings, refused to fold — Agastiya M and Mathusri V both found the net, and the Star of the Match award went not to SRM's two-goal hero but to

Madhumitha C (13), SDAT Tiruvannamalai, recognised for standing out in a losing cause. It's the second time in this competition a Tiruvannamalai player has taken the individual honours in a defeat — this team is building something even while it loses.
The Golden Stick:
One Player Has Basically Lapped the Field
Rank | Player | Team | Goals | Breakdown |
1 | Vairavi M | SRM IST | 5 | 5 FG |
2 | Suba Sri S | SRM IST | 4 | 3 FG · 1 PC |
3 | M Jothilakshmi | SHE Chennai | 2 | 1 PC · 1 FG |
3 | Soniya S | SRM IST | 2 | 2 FG |
3 | R Mumanja | SHE Chennai | 2 | 1 PC · 1 PS |
3 | Mathusri V | 2 | 2 FG |
Look at where the goals are actually coming from. Vairavi M and Suba Sri S have scored 9 of SRM IST's 12 goals between them — three-quarters of their entire output riding on two players. SHE Chennai's attack tells the opposite story: five different names have got on the scoresheet, none of them with more than two, a threat that's spread across the team rather than loaded onto one or two shoulders. Neither approach has been wrong so far — both teams are unbeaten — but today is the day we find out which style actually wins you a trophy.
The Table Going Into Today
# | Team | P | W | D | L | GF | GA | GD | Pts |
1 | SRM IST | 2 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 12 | 2 | +10 | 6 |
2 | SHE Chennai | 2 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 7 | 1 | +6 | 6 |
3 | SDAT Tiruvannamalai | 3 | 1 | 0 | 2 | 4 | 8 | −4 | 3 |
4 | SDAT Pudukottai | 3 | 0 | 0 | 3 | 1 | 13 | −12 | 0 |
Tiruvannamalai and Pudukottai have both finished their campaigns — three matches played, seasons done, TVM taking a solitary win off Pudukottai in Week 4 as their one bright spot, Pudukottai finishing without a single victory. SRM IST and SHE Chennai are the only two teams with a game left, and it's against each other. Level on points, both unbeaten, both perfect — the entire Women's League title comes down to today's last match.
Today: SRM IST vs SHE Chennai — 15:30

Here's the number that should worry SRM more than their +10 goal difference should comfort them: SHE Chennai have conceded exactly one goal in two matches. SRM have conceded two. On a per-game basis, SHE's defence has actually been the tighter of the two — their goal difference simply looks smaller because they haven't scored as freely, not because they've been breached more. If today turns into a low-scoring, cagey decider instead of an SRM avalanche, that defensive record is the reason why.
But SRM have Vairavi M, and Vairavi M has been unplayable — five goals in two matches, a hat-trick in the opener and a brace yesterday, the kind of scoring form that doesn't respect clean-sheet reputations. If SRM's front two get anywhere near the space they were given against Pudukottai and Tiruvannamalai, SHE's one-goal-conceded record will be under a pressure it hasn't faced yet this tournament.
The call: SRM IST to win it, but by less than their goal difference suggests. SHE Chennai's defence is built to make this close, and if SRM's frontline is even slightly quieter than usual, don't be surprised if this one goes right down to the final whistle — with the same kind of late nerve the men's competition has produced twice already this week.
Whatever happens, mark today down: it's a title decided at 15:30, followed by a men's final at 17:30, same ground, same lights coming on as the afternoon turns into evening. This is as good a day as Tamil Hockey League 2026 has to offer, and it's not even the last one. Follow the Action
