The Sri NPV Ramasamy Udayar Hockey Centre Porur played host to a thrilling encounter between Avadi Blues and Hockstars in the Tiruvallur Premier League on Sunday evening. Both teams came into the match with something to prove at the tail end of the league.
Avadi Blues had a great start with threatening moves in the center from Hariharan and Dilli in the right flank both fresh from their junior hockey championship finals representing Chennai.
Hari received the ball from the right flank on top of the D, lofted it a little on the left, and packed the ball to the hockstars net with an elegant flick hit in the 2nd minute of the game. He then provided a neat long-range slap hit assist to his captain Jegan who beautifully connected it for their second goal in the 12th minute.
The second quarter was a different story altogether, as the Hockstars came back with a vengeance. They dominated possession, and their midfielders made sure that the ball was played through to their forwards. Sivakumar controlled a long scoop from his center-half, dodged Shanthakumar, and struck the ball with a vengeance into the Blues net in the 28th minute.
The Blues held their ground and fought hard for the win, but the Hockstars kept coming, threatening to level the match. Avadi Blues goalkeeper Rajkumar made a few crucial saves to keep his team ahead.
The game was an intense back-and-forth battle, with both teams displaying fantastic skills and teamwork. In the end, the Avadi Blues held on for a thrilling victory over the Hockstars.
Hariharan was adjudged the man of the match for his superb display of skills and assistance. He scored the opening goal and provided the assist for the second, proving to be a crucial player for the Blues. Match Officials: Umpires: Mr Ashok & Mr Saravanan Scoring Judge: Mr Lakshmi Narayanan
