In what was the most eagerly awaited match of the Tiruvallur Premier League, KGS Hockey took on Dhyand Veerans on a bright Sunday morning at the Sri NPV Udayar Hockey Centre in Porur.

KGS Hockey struck first in the 18th minute when Somanna scored a brilliant drag flick, which was saved by Dinesh but rebounded off the goal line. Despite the best efforts of Dhyand Veerans' right back Ramesh, who appeared to have cleared the ball off the line, the umpire deemed it a goal, much to the chagrin of the Veerans' players.

However, Dhyand Veerans didn't take long to respond, with Muthuselvan hit a thunderous penalty corner deflected by Dhanush in the 31st minute to draw level. He then scored another in the 34th minute with a perfectly executed drag flick that found the left side of the goal. "Muthuselvan is a gem of a player. He always comes up with goals when we need them the most," said Rajan, a Veerans fan.

The Veerans' captain, Laxman Karan, added to KGS' woes in the 37th minute with a superb solo effort, dribbling past the KGS defense to slot the ball past the goalkeeper in the near post, much to the delight of the Veerans' fans.

We have a great team, and we always fight till the end," said Arun, a KGS fan.

The two goalkeepers, Dinesh and Aravind, were exceptional throughout the match and made some outstanding saves to keep their respective teams in the game.

The match ended in a 3-3 draw, and it was left to the shootout to determine the winner. Dhyand Veerans held their nerve and emerged victorious in the shootout, winning 3-2 to claim the extra point.
