In an exhilarating start to the Tiruvallur League, SM Nagar emerged victorious in a closely contested match against Avadi Blues, with a final score of 3-2. The first match of the league calendar, held at the TSP 5th Battalion Ground, witnessed a fierce battle between the two teams.
Avadi Blues, having retained most of their squad from the previous TPL, showcased their teamwork and dominated the first half of the game. In the 13th minute, Santha Kumar of Avadi Blues broke through the defense of Rajkumar, the best goalkeeper awardee in the TPL, and scored a splendid drag flick into the left corner. The Blues' performance ignited the crowd, with fans passionately supporting their team from the sidelines.
On the other hand, SM Nagar, with significant changes in their team compared to the TPL, displayed youthful energy and synchronized moves on the field. However, they struggled to convert their opportunities in the shooting circle. In the 28th minute, Yogesh of SM Nagar expertly converted a penalty stroke, leveling the score. The game intensified as Jana of Avadi Blues connected a superb move from the right flank, putting the Blues in the lead once again.
As the match progressed, SM Nagar exerted pressure on the young Blues and earned a series of penalty corners. Yogesh, displaying his prowess, unleashed a thunderous hit to convert another penalty corner, securing the equalizer for SM Nagar in the 48th minute. In the dying seconds of the game, veteran player Gopi utilized his experience and skill to seal the victory for SM Nagar, sending the ball to the right board, much to the dismay of the Blues' fans.
Francis of Avadi Blues showcased exceptional goalkeeping skills, making several valiant saves throughout the match. Despite injuring his right shoulder in the process, his outstanding performance earned him the well-deserved Man of the Match title.
In a turn of events, the second match between KGS Hockey and Saravanavel Memorial Hockey had to be abandoned due to bad light and drizzle, leaving fans eagerly awaiting their encounter in the future.

Mr. Hamesh, Manager of Avadi Blues, lamented the loss, attributing it to umpire errors. He said, "We put up a commendable performance, but certain umpiring decisions went against us. Nevertheless, we will bounce back stronger in the upcoming matches."
