🏑 The Clash: IOB vs AGORC

⚡ Match Flow

The game began like a storm waiting to break. In the first quarter, both IOB and AGORC lunged into action, every tackle fierce, every pass sharp. Yet the scoreboard held still, as wasted penalty corners piled up for IOB, keeping fans restless.

The second quarter was no different — suspense hanging like a thick cloud. Each attack raised the heartbeat, but both defences held their ground. From the stands, roars, whistles, and cheeky comments kept the tempo alive. Egmore was in festival mode, and every missed chance brought a mix of laughter and groans.

The third quarter saw chances galore. PCs flew at both ends, but poor trapping and resolute goalkeeping meant the nets remained untouched. During the break, the stadium paused to honour Mr. Dhanraj, Executive Director of IOB, whose presence seemed to ignite his boys in blue. Olympian Padmashri V. Baskaran himself did the honours, and from that moment on, destiny seemed to tilt towards IOB.

And then came the fourth quarter — where champions rise. Inspired, determined, and spurred by their ED’s watchful eye, Sudip Chirmako split the AGORC defence and struck a thunderous field goal. The blue stands erupted; claps, chants, and the quirky sidelines banter of fans turned Egmore into a cauldron of joy. AGORC pressed with late PCs, but the script had already been written.

Adding to the drama, in the audience were the Indian Bank coach and manager, watching anxiously, calculating how the result would shape their fate.

On a Vinayagar Chaturthi holiday, Egmore was overflowing, crowds swelling with families, students, and hockey lovers — every clap, every cheer, every funny comment raising the decibels and giving the match the feel of a festival.

With this win, IOB cushions itself comfortably into the finals on 31st August. Meanwhile, Indian Bank, once unshakable, must now fight it out with Income Tax or AGORC to claim the last ticket to the grand finale.

This is the beauty of TPL: One slip, and giants fall. One moment, and heroes rise. Today, IOB stood tall, painting Egmore in their blue.
