The second clash of the Super Six stage at the NUO Clinic Tiruvallur Premier League 3.0 (2025) delivered grit, drama, and class at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium, Egmore on 21st August 2025.
Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) showed their tournament credentials with a composed 2–0 victory over a determined Income Tax side.
The blue turf came alive not just at the stadium but on screens everywhere, thanks to i1Sports’ live broadcast with the electric voices of Mr. Nandhakumar and Mr. Ritish. Their commentary turned every move into a story, every goal into a roar — exactly the energy Tamil Nadu hockey has long deserved.
⚖️ First Quarter – Caution in the Air
Both teams started cautiously, refusing to blink first. Income Tax tried to push through midfield, while IOB absorbed the pressure and waited patiently. The opening 15 minutes ended in a tense deadlock.
🔥 Chirmako Ignites the Turf
The match turned on its head in the 25th minute. Sudip Chirmako, IOB’s livewire forward, pounced inside the circle and smashed home a clean field goal. The crowd erupted, the IOB bench leapt in unison, and suddenly the game had fire.
🏑 Midfield Battle, Missed Chances
The third quarter was a war of nerves. Income Tax captain Arun Prasad marshalled his men, urging them forward, while IOB’s skipper K.H. Shan held his defence rock-solid. Chances came — half-hits, missed deflections, nervous scrambles — but neither side added to the tally. The scoreboard still read 1–0, but the tension was rising.
🎯 Kindo Delivers the Knockout
As the game ticked into its dying minutes, Sumit Kindo rose to the occasion. In the 59th minute, he produced a moment of sheer class, slipping past defenders and burying IOB’s second. The Income Tax resistance was finally broken.
Final whistle: IOB 2 – 0 Income Tax.
🧤 Man of the Match
🏅 Sudip Chirmako (IOB)
For his tireless running and that crucial opener, Chirmako was named Man of the Match, presented by none other than Padmashri Olympian V. Baskaran.

🎙️ From the Dugout
D. Muthukumaran (Coach, IOB):
“We kept our composure. Sudip’s goal gave us belief, and Kindo’s strike sealed it. Credit to the boys for sticking to the plan.”
G. Udayakumar (Coach, Income Tax):
“We matched them for large stretches but couldn’t convert our chances. At this stage, one mistake is costly. We’ll regroup and fight back.”
📣 What This Means for the Super Six
IOB look like a team with balance — a fearless frontline in Chirmako and Kindo, and a wall in Dilip Kumar at the back. Income Tax showed grit but will need sharper finishing to stay in the race.
