Hockey Tiruvallur Premier League is set to introduce a thrilling "dragflicking" contest open to all drag flickers from across India. This contest will be the first of its kind to be held during the league and will feature a cash prize of Rs 25000 and free biomechanics assessment at the state-of-the-art biomechanics lab at Sri Ramachandra Centre for Sports Science in Porur. The venue of the league, Sri NPV Ramasamy Udayar Hockey Centre, is located on the same campus as the lab.
"We are excited to bring this unique contest to the Hockey Tiruvallur Premier League. The drag-flick is an integral part of the game, and we are expecting some top-quality players to take part in this contest," said Padmashri V Baskaran, former captain of the Indian hockey team.
Tournament Director Mohammed Muneer added, "We are confident that this contest will add an extra layer of excitement to the already thrilling tournament. We look forward to witnessing some spectacular performances by drag flickers."
The contest will be assessed by Dr. Sishir, a research scholar in hockey drag-flick biomechanics at the university. He will assess the speed and accuracy of the drag-flick using world-class technology available at Sri Ramachandra Centre for Sports Science.
