Food Corporation of India produced their most commanding performance of the campaign, while Indian Overseas Bank Chennai staged a stirring comeback to preserve their unbeaten record on Day 11 of the Rela Hospital Tamil Hockey League 2026 at the SDAT Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium in Egmore.

FCI defeated Pattabiram Strikers 6–2 in Match 18, before Indian Overseas Bank overturned a two-goal deficit to edge Integral Coach Factory 3–2 in a gripping Match 19.

Match 18: Food Corporation of India 6–2 Pattabiram Strikers

Food Corporation of India (FCI) registered their first victory of the Tamil Hockey League 2026 with an emphatic 6–2 win over Pattabiram Strikers.

FCI signalled their intent from the start, putting the Pattabiram defence under sustained pressure. Anand Y opened the scoring from a penalty stroke in the sixth minute before Ananth H M converted a penalty corner in the 22nd minute.

Aryan Uthappa then took control of the contest, scoring field goals in the 31st and 47th minutes. Ananth added his second from another penalty corner in the 55th minute, while Akhil Ayyappa struck in the 59th to complete FCI's six-goal performance.

Pattabiram, however, showed what their young side is capable of during a spirited final-quarter response. Shahanul Shafas scored twice, in the 51st and 58th minutes, as the Strikers began to dictate passages of play late in the match.

FCI's intent was evident from the opening exchanges. Although the two teams were evenly matched in several areas, FCI consistently put pressure on the Pattabiram defence and scored in each of the opening three quarters to establish a 3–0 advantage.

Pattabiram continued to create opportunities and earned penalty corners during the second and third quarters, but were unable to convert them.

The fourth quarter opened with FCI further tightening their grip on the contest, but the latter stages belonged to a rejuvenated Pattabiram side. Their increased communication, movement and tempo resulted in two goals and offered a glimpse of the potential within this youthful squad.

Had Pattabiram found that rhythm earlier, the complexion of the match could have been very different. They possess the stamina and pace to influence games; greater communication and composure could make them a dangerous side going forward.

If Match 18 belonged to FCI, Match 19 delivered the drama.

Two seasoned institutional teams produced an absorbing contest as Indian Overseas Bank Chennai (IOB) came from 0–2 down to defeat Integral Coach Factory (ICF) 3–2, extending their unbeaten run and strengthening their position at the top of Pool B.

ICF were dominant through the opening half. Dhanush converted a fourth-minute penalty corner before Shyam Kumarscored from a penalty stroke in the 27th minute to establish a 2–0 advantage.

But the momentum was about to change.

This was always likely to be an edge-of-the-seat contest between two experienced institutional sides, and it delivered.

ICF were at their dominant best during the opening two quarters and deservedly established a 2–0 lead.

IOB's response was gradual but decisive. They first reduced the deficit, then found the equaliser and finally struck the match-winner as their experience began to show.

The roles had completely reversed by the closing stages. ICF were now chasing the game and searching for the goal that would rescue a draw. IOB absorbed the pressure and held on to complete one of the notable comebacks of the tournament.

Indian Bank - Champions TPL 3.0 2025

Defending champions Indian Bank finally begin their Tamil Hockey League 2026 campaign today, adding another major contender to an already fiercely competitive Pool A. Coached by Olympian Thirumal Valavan, Indian Bank enter the tournament with the expectations that come with being champions and face an immediate test against Southern Railway at 2:30 PM. Southern Railway already have four matches behind them and sit on six points, making this an intriguing clash between a battle-hardened side and a champion team taking the field for the first time.

The 4:00 PM encounter between Sports Hostel of Excellence and Income Tax could have major implications at the top of Pool A. Sports Hostel have made a perfect start with three wins from three matches and only two goals conceded, while Income Tax sit on six points and possess one of the pool's most productive attacks. It sets up an exciting contrast: Sports Hostel's organisation and unbeaten record against the attacking threat of Income Tax. A fourth straight victory would further strengthen Sports Hostel's grip on the pool, while an Income Tax win could dramatically tighten the race for the Super 6 places.
