There comes a moment in every sporting journey when a name is no longer big enough to carry the dream.
That moment has arrived.
After three remarkable editions as the Tiruvallur Premier League (TPL), one of Tamil Nadu's most celebrated domestic hockey competitions now enters an exciting new era as the Tamil Hockey League (THL).
The new name reflects a vision that extends far beyond district borders. It represents a league created for every player, every club, every institution and every hockey fan across Tamil Nadu. While its roots remain proudly in Tiruvallur, its ambition is now statewide—to create the finest domestic hockey competition in India.
A Journey Worth Celebrating
The league's story began humbly at the Sri Ramasamy Udayar Hockey Turf, where the first two editions laid the foundation for a professionally organised competition built on quality, discipline and passion.
By its third edition, the league had grown into a major sporting spectacle at the iconic Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium, Egmore. With ten competitive teams, professional live streaming, extensive media coverage, the release of the official league anthem, the unveiling of the beloved mascot MARA, and a thrilling final where Indian Bank defeated Indian Overseas Bank, the tournament firmly established itself as one of Tamil Nadu's premier hockey competitions.
Every match was broadcast live on the i1Sports YouTube channel, allowing thousands of hockey fans across India to follow the action and bringing unprecedented visibility to domestic hockey in the state.

Now, the stage becomes even bigger.
The Tamil Hockey League 2026 returns to the legendary Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium, Egmore, promising the largest and most inclusive edition in the league's history.

12 Men's Teams competing for the championship.
The inaugural Women's League featuring 4 teams.
Women umpires officiating selected men's matches.
The return of MARA, the league mascot.

Fan engagement activities, entertainment, awards, and a month-long festival atmosphere celebrating Tamil hockey.
